Cast: Harold Peary as "Honest" Harold Hemp, "popular radio entertainer of Melrose Springs." Kathryn Card as his mother. Jane Morgan later in the run as Mother Hemp. Parley Baer as Pete the marshal, Harold's friend. Joseph Kearns as Old Doc "Yak-Yak" Yancy. Gloria Holliday (Peary's wife) as Harold's best girl, Gloria, who worked as the PBX operator at the radio station. Mary Jane Croft as Evelina, another of Harold's girlfriends. Sammy Ogg as Marvin, Harold's nephew. Announcer: Bob LeMond. Music: Jack Meakin. Director: 'Norman Macdonnell. Writers: Harold Peary, Gene Stone, Bill Danch, Jack Robinson.Honest Harold was created by Harold Peary after his departure from The Great Gildersleeve in midc 1950. The show failed to gain any measure of an audience in its lone season. Its failure was much discussed at the time and was attributed to several factors. Willard Waterman was considered excellent as the new Gildersleeve, .and in Honest Harold Peary seemed to be ganging onto too many Gildersleeve elements. Peary had professed boredom with the role but.. had emerged on the rival network with a strong sound-alike, complete with the famous "dirty laugh. "
